This weekend is big, right? Sure Colorado College is down but they want that Gold Pan and regional respect. Expect an all-out effort from the Tigers. On the pitch, DU’s men’s soccer team can go where no other DU soccer team has ever gone if they beat Clemson in the NCAA Quarterfinals and advancing to the final four in Houston.
Lots of Thanksgiving holiday activity on campus. In Denver, see NCAA playoff soccer with DU vs. Washington Saturday @ 5:00 PM MT and hockey vs. Wisconsin Saturday @ 7:00 PM MT. Denver basketball and volleyball teams are in action on the road.

For the third year in a row, Denver (23-7, 13,3 Conference) won the Summit League 3-1 and will advance to the NCAA Tournament. Led by first-year head coach Tom Hogan, the Pioneers beat regular co-champion and league rival South Dakota (25-7, 13-3 Conference) at Hamilton Gym. The Pioneers started fast, dominating the Coyotes 25-12, 25-14 in the first two sets – eliminating much of the suspense. South Dakota tightened up the match with a narrow 25-22 3rd set win after a quick 7-1 start. Sunday afternoon, Denver volleyball (20-7 overall, 13-3 Summit League) traveled to North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota with the regular season title on the line. After falling to South Dakota (13-3) in Vermillion, South Dakota on Friday night (25-18, 24-26, 25-23, 21-25 and 15-13) , the Pioneers had to win Sunday to secure a share of the regular season title.

Women’s Volleyball
DU women’s volleyball (19-6, 11-2 Summit) faced Oral Roberts at Hamilton Gym. ORU had dumped the Pioneers 3-2 a month earlier in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Another great weekend for the Pioneers with three series sweeps and a tie. A Men’s Soccer tie and Women’s Soccer sweep) clinched regular season titles while a DU women’s volleyball home sweep moved them into first place in the Summit league. Denver hockey rolled into East Lansing Michigan and exited with a sweep. On Friday, Denver defeated the Spartans 2-1 behind Tanner Jaillet’s 19 of 20 saves along with goals from super freshman Henrik Borgstrom and sophomore Jarid Lukosevicius. On Saturday afternoon, Troy Terry scored one goal and another nearly invisible goal to lead the Pio’s to a 3-1 victory. The Pioneers have moved to 4-2 behind a four-game winning streak with one of their top scorers, Dylan Gambrell, out of the lineup with injury. Despite a disappointing weekend for DU’s hockey team which lost to both Ohio State and Boston College in the Ice Breaker Tournament, this weekend was, overall a smashing success for Denver athletics.
