The Denver Proscess: Reload, Reconstruct and Reproduce Excellence

It’s no secret that the University of Denver Pioneers hockey program underwent some substantial changes during the offseason. Everything from the internals of the team makeup and positions within the coaching staff, to the literal gutting of the locker room to give way to luxurious renovations.

The Pioneers didn’t just lose five influential players who each embodied the very essence of the Denver hockey culture, but the program also lost the man who reinstated Denver’s tradition of excellence. The departures of former head coach Jim Montgomery and household names in Henrik Borgström, Dylan Gambrell, Blake Hillman, Logan O’Connor, and Troy Terry are perceivably devastating.

Denver hockey roster update: 2017-18 Pioneers poised to dominate once again

American Hero Troy Terry’s hat trick powers Denver to second straight Frozen Four

For the second straight year, the top-ranked University of Denver Pioneers are going to the Frozen Four.

Troy Terry notched a hat trick, Jarid Lukosevicius tallied two more goals, and Tanner Jaillet stopped 24 shots against the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Midwest Regional Final at the US Bank Center in Cincinnati to earn Denver a trip to Chicago in two weeks. Denver rides Evan Cowley’s second straight shutout to sweep of Tigers and into 4th straight Frozen Faceoff

For the fourth straight year, the top-ranked University of Denver Pioneers will head to Minneapolis for the Frozen Faceoff thanks to Evan Cowley’s 4-0 shutout of the Colorado College Tigers on Saturday night. The win was the Pioneers’ 14th straight over CC and clinched the first-round series sweep. The top-ranked University of Denver Pioneers took Game One of the NCHC Tournament first round best-of-three series from the Colorado College Tigers last night with a 4-1 win. They had to overcome a slow, disjointed first period to do it, but they did what the had to do with a strong second period performance. Denver overcomes slow first period to take Game 1 from Colorado College

It wasn’t exactly the start to the first playoff game of the year that the top-ranked University of Denver Pioneers had envisioned this week. However, as they’ve done so many times before this year, they used the first intermission to make some much-needed adjustments and they didn’t look back as they topped the Colorado College Tigers 4-1. Henrik Borgström lifts Denver back into 1st place with overtime goal

Henrik Borgström, the artist, only had one goal all night, but it was the one that mattered most for the top-ranked University of Denver Pioneers. With 1:16 left in overtime, Borgström took a Troy Terry pass and wristed it under #18 St Cloud State University goalie Jeff Smith’s right arm to give the Pioneers a key 4-3 victory to reclaim 1st place in the NCHC. Pioneers extend Tenzer Streak, grab first place from Duluth with sweep of Tigers

For the 12th straight time, the #2 University of Denver Pioneers beat the Colorado College Tigers and in the process, they extended the Tenzer Streak to 16 and jumped into first place in the NCHC, one point ahead of UMD. The only thing that didn’t happen for Denver is earning the #1 ranking in the Pairwise. They remain at #2. WATCH: Jim Montgomery talks sluggish 11th straight victory over Colorado College

Last night, the #2 University of Denver Pioneers topped Colorado College for the 11th straight time to extend their third-longest streak in the 305-game history of the Gold Pan Rivalry. The 2-1 victory was an important one, as all wins over CC are, but the Pios played sluggish hockey for much of the game. Part of that was a function of the bye week last weekend. Denver tops Colorado College for 11th straight time in Troy Terry’s return

DENVER – Troy Terry returned, Adam Plant scored a goal barely a minute into the game, and the #2 University of Denver Pioneers won their 11th straight game against in-state “rival” Colorado College Tigers by a score of 2-1. And that’s about all there is to say about the third matchup of the season between Denver and Colorado College.
