Pioneer First Half Surge Overwhelms Leathernecks
Denver (10-8) got off to their best first half of the season and held off a second half charge from Western Illinois (7-8) for a confidence-building 76-69 road victory on Thursday night in Macomb, Illinois. It was all 11’s for Marcus Byrd, Bryant Rucker, and super freshman Joe Rosga. The Pioneers bench outscored the Western Illinois bench 28-18. Compromise May Submarine DU Prospects
As LetsGoDU reported recently, all the FBS (Football Bowl Subdivision) members are meeting this week to address a Big 10 proposal (they are at it again!) for football members that would require each conference to have divisions and a division playoff in order to qualify for consideration for participation in national championship playoffs. This would require the Big 12 to expand from the current 10 teams to 12 teams, create divisions, and have a championship game to meet these requirements. If the legislation is passed this week, it is widely expected that that the Big 12 would add the University of Cincinnati and BYU. BYU is currently an independent in football and in the West Coast Conference for other sports, a potential landing spot for DU athletics. Continue reading Compromise May Submarine DU Prospects
Vanilla Broncos Can Play Denver Spoiler
Not THE Denver Broncos – the Western Michigan Broncos.
When Western Michigan rolls into Denver for this weekend’s 2-game series against DU, many fans are going to be discounting these Broncos. They sit at #28 in the RPI rankings, they are in the bottom half of D1 scoring and D1 defense, and their goalie(s) is not in the top 50 goaltenders in save percentage. This is a perfect trap series for DU, especially with important NCHC foes Minnesota Duluth and underachieving Miami. Continue reading Vanilla Broncos Can Play Denver Spoiler
