Monday Morning Pioneer News Dump

  • While DU may not be the Harvard of the west, Denver is quickly becoming the Yale of the Rockies. DU already added lacrosse transfers Jackson Morrill and Lucas Cotler from Yale and last week, DU Hockey head coach David Carle followed in Bill Tierney’s footsteps and added grad transfer goalie Corbin Kaczperski to the roster. Kaczperski will start classes at DU in the spring which makes him eligible to begin playing for the Pios in December when the NCHC Pod begins.
  • Staying with hockey, the Pioneers were picked to finish 2nd in the NCHC behind only North Dakota by media members from around the conference and country. The full preseason poll is just below:

DU Triathlon Head Coach Has Lofty Expectations and the Track Record to Prove It

DU’s newly added sport, Women’s Triathalon, has been moved to the spring but new head coach Barbara Perkins is going full-speed building her team, establishing a competitive culture and dreaming of achieving history at DU. But, Perkins concedes that it will take time no matter how easy it is to get caught up in her enthusiasm for the sport.
