Mike Chambers of The Denver Post reported yesterday that Florida Panthers general manager Dale Tallon and DU head coach Jim Montgomery are set for a second interview. Still, Montgomery insists that everything must be ‘perfect’ for him to leave. As for Tallon, “We have interviewed six guys and we have another half dozen we plan to speak to.”

LetsGoDU got exclusive access to an interview with Craig Patrick, a seminal figure as a hockey player for DU and an assistant coach to Herb Brooks 1980 USA Olympic hockey team. The self-described, “luckiest guy in the world” came to DU by chance when his uncle who was a general manager of the New York Rangers persuaded him to go to DU instead of turning pro.
Craig Patrick will be a featured speaker and guest at DU Alumni Weekend on Saturday, May 20th.

In this writer’s view, the NCHC is currently sitting pretty. However, now is not the time to sit and enjoy the sights. The NCHC should begin to work to create a short and long-term strategic plan to grow the NCHC into a truly national conference. Photo: DU added more All-Americans this week following last week’s NCAA hockey national championship. DU athletics keeps turning the numbers at the Magness entry like an odometer.
What an incredible week it has been for Denver sports.
The DU women’s gymnastics team finished 9th at the NCAA’s and garnered two All-Americans – star freshman Maddie Karr was named first team all-around and second team for vault and bars. Senior Julia Ross was named second team for the bars. To top it off, senior Leah Lomonte was named the 2017 Big 12 Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
