The top-ranked University of Denver Pioneers took Game One of the NCHC Tournament first round best-of-three series from the Colorado College Tigers last night with a 4-1 win. They had to overcome a slow, disjointed first period to do it, but they did what the had to do with a strong second period performance. Denver overcomes slow first period to take Game 1 from Colorado College

It wasn’t exactly the start to the first playoff game of the year that the top-ranked University of Denver Pioneers had envisioned this week. However, as they’ve done so many times before this year, they used the first intermission to make some much-needed adjustments and they didn’t look back as they topped the Colorado College Tigers 4-1. Breakthrough Colorado College study cites hockey woes & proposes solutions

Colorado College’s (7-22-4) failure on the ice has resulted in widespread campus dissatisfaction. As the Tiger’s featured athletic program, men’s ice hockey continues to falter during the 2016-2017 season. An internal campus survey shows that “horrible Hockey” caused widespread (63%) campus dissatisfaction. Pioneers ruin Omaha’s Senior Night with shutout to cap regular season

The top-ranked University of Denver Pioneers went into Omaha this weekend with one goal on their minds: clinch the Penrose Cup and bring the huge trophy back to Denver with them. After they clinched the NCHC regular season title last night with a 4-2 victory (and UMD’s loss to Western Michigan) over the Omaha Mavericks, the focus tonight shifted to ruining the Mavs’ Senior Night. Pioneers Clinch Penrose Cup – Double up Mavericks 4-2

With tonight’s (March 3)  4-2 victory over the University of Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks (UNO), the University of Denver Pioneers secured their first Penrose Cup as the NCHC Regular Season Champions. WATCH: Jim Montgomery discusses Finlay hat trick, Class of 2017’s legacy

Last night, the #1 University of Denver Pioneers topped the #18 St. Cloud State Huskies, 7-2. Freshman Liam Finlay notched a hat trick and Henrik Borgström added a highlight reel goal along the way. It was nothing short of the perfect way for this program to thank the graduating Class of 2017 for their contributions to this program. Liam Finlay’s hat trick caps Senior Night beatdown of St. Cloud State

Freshman Liam Finlay tallied his first career hat trick, Henrik Borgström had a SportsCenter Top 10 worthy goal, and seniors accounted for eight points in the #1 University of Denver Pioneers’ 7-2 beatdown of the #18 St. Cloud State Huskies. Denver is now just one win away from clinching its first ever Penrose Cup, which is awarded to the team atop the NCHC standings at the end of the season. WATCH: Jim Montgomery talks Henrik Borgström and overtime win over St Cloud

Last night, the top-ranked University of Denver Pioneers escaped the #18 St Cloud State Huskies with a 4-3 overtime victory thanks to the heroics of star freshman, Henrik Borgström. The victory, combined with Minnesota-Duluth’s 3-on-3 overtime loss to Miami, puts Denver one point clear of the Bulldogs in the NCHC Standings with one game in hand.
