Last night, the #2 University of Denver Pioneers went into the World Arena and skated the Colorado College Tigers out of the building with a 5-1 victory. It was Denver’s 12th straight victory over their in-state rival and the victory vaulted them over UMD and into first place in the NCHC. On top of it all, the win was Denver’s 20th of the year, which made it 16 straight seasons with at least 20 wins (the Tenzer Streak). Pioneers extend Tenzer Streak, grab first place from Duluth with sweep of Tigers

For the 12th straight time, the #2 University of Denver Pioneers beat the Colorado College Tigers and in the process, they extended the Tenzer Streak to 16 and jumped into first place in the NCHC, one point ahead of UMD. The only thing that didn’t happen for Denver is earning the #1 ranking in the Pairwise. They remain at #2. WATCH: Jim Montgomery talks sluggish 11th straight victory over Colorado College
Last night, the #2 University of Denver Pioneers topped Colorado College for the 11th straight time to extend their third-longest streak in the 305-game history of the Gold Pan Rivalry. The 2-1 victory was an important one, as all wins over CC are, but the Pios played sluggish hockey for much of the game. Part of that was a function of the bye week last weekend. DENVER – Troy Terry returned, Adam Plant scored a goal barely a minute into the game, and the #2 University of Denver Pioneers won their 11th straight game against in-state “rival” Colorado College Tigers by a score of 2-1. Denver shuts out Omaha to complete weekend sweep & pull into tie for 1st in NCHC

Coming into the weekend, the biggest concern many fans of the #3 University of Denver Pioneers had was the #18 Omaha Mavericks’ incredible offense and, more specifically, their power play unit. Now, two games, four power play goals, and two Denver victories later, the power play unit that we should have been focusing on all week was actually wearing Crimson and Gold. Pioneers ride Mavericks out of Magness behind 4-goal 2nd period

Following two straight road splits in NCHC play against Western Michigan and St. Cloud State, the #3 Denver Pioneers returned to Denver and Magness Arena to host the #18 Omaha Mavericks. The Pioneers enjoyed the friendly confines as they rode a 4-goal effort in the second period to a resounding 5-2 victory over the Mavs.

4th line to top line: the Jarid Lukosevicius story

Like most freshmen, Jarid Lukosevicius was just competing for any spot in the lineup last year and he earned it: 4th line right wing for the 2015-16 University of Denver Pioneers. Not exactly the most glamorous spot, but hey, he was a freshman. Now a sophomore, Lukosevicius has ascended in the lineup to become the top line right wing as one of DU’s most consistent forwards. Pioneers split with Huskies, maintain Pairwise positioning

Over the weekend, the #1 University of Denver Pioneers traveled to St. Cloud, Minnesota to take on the St. Cloud State Huskies, a team that has had the Pios’ number over the year or so. Coming into the weekend, the Huskies had won 4 straight against Denver, including a win in Minneapolis during the NCHC Frozen Faceoff last year.
