DU Employees to Receive Covid Backpay and Bonus from University
It’s no secret that the COVID-19 pandemic had a big impact on many industries but especially higher education. DU was no exception. It had to put in place pay and staff cuts as the University faced a $45 million shortfall. Yesterday, however, a bit more than a year removed from the beginning of the oddest school year in memory, the University of Denver notified employees that they will be retroactively paying back those pay cuts and paying every full and part-time employee a bonus. A high school senior from Redlands, California applied as ‘Melba Toaster’ to Arizona State University and the kitchen appliance was promptly selected for early admission. DU Finalizes James C. Kennedy Mountain Campus
It has taken nearly a year but DU has finalized the purchase of a Rocky Mountain Campus. Originally thought to be the Beaver Village Condos in Winter Park, the new mountain campus will be near Ft. Collins on a sprawling 724-acre tract of land, currently named Magic Sky Ranch near Red Feather Lakes. According to sources, a key donor balked at the Winter Park site which was on a commercial parcel near the entrance to downtown Winter Park. The idea was to identify a parcel that provided more privacy and a more unique outdoor experience and it appears they have found exactly what they’re looking for with the James C. DU Athletic Hall of Fame Inductions Slated for October 15th
Registration is still open for this year’s Denver Athletics Hall of Fame awards dinner to be held Friday, October 15th, 6-9 pm MT ahead of the Hall of Fame hockey game against Air Force on Saturday at Magness Arena. Originally scheduled for last year, but postponed due to COVID-19, this year’s induction class is one of the most impressive groups of athletic alumni ever assembled at DU. Following Denver Athletics Just Got Easier
Denver Athletics launched a new mobile phone app with real-time game updates, scores, breaking news, and access to game tickets. The app can be customized to match the interest of each user and tickets will be electronically issued to customers who, in turn, download their tickets into their electronic wallets for presentation game day. U.S. News Ranks Denver 93rd Best University
U.S. News College Rankings are the gold standard when it comes to comparing the merits of various colleges and universities. Last year, the University of Denver jumped an astounding 17 spots to number 80, an amazing move up the treasured ‘Top 100’. Denver fell back in the 2022 Best Universities category to #93, tied with Stony Brook University, University of Buffalo, University of California-Merced, University of Deleware and University of San Diego. While many people may argue that college rankings are arbitrary, parents and students use published rankings to determine the value of their educational investment and as a ‘tie-breaker’ in college selection.
